It has dawned on Serah that Miracle doesn’t want to open up to her. And she doesn’t want to force it as well. So it wouldn’t bring problems between them.

‘If you say so, no problem. But don’t forget that a problem shared is half solved,’ Serah added.

Miracle did not say a word. As she faced her snacks.

‘Miracle, where do you always go on weekends? Unlike you, you hardly stay around during weekends. And from my observations so far, you also sleep out on weekends. What’s happening? Where do you normally go?,’ Serah asked.

‘Serah, how can you ask a grownup lady like me such a stûpîd question? Look, whether I sleep out or don’t stay at home weekends, how is that your business? ‘I am sorry. You know I am doing all these because I care. You are not just a friend to me but also a sister..’, Serah was very sorry but very much worried for her friend, Miracle.

‘And then? Even if I am your sister, can’t you respect my privacy? I don’t like it. And you know that very well. Please stop it..,’ Miracle made it clear, already, she was very angry.

Just then, Miracle angrily stood up, paid for what they ate and left the eatery without a goodbye to Serah.

Miracle lived a very principled life. Her privacy meant a world to her. She háte it so much when someone intrudes into her private space uninvited. And that was the major problem she had with Serah.

Although Serah was doing everything she was doing for the love and care she had for Miracle. It was all for sisterhood. But Miracle doesn’t see it that way. She saw Serah as an intruder into her private space.

If not that Serah was a sister that Miracle cannot do without, she would have done away with her in her life. But Serah has become part and parcel of her. So no matter how they quarrel, they would still find a way to mend fences.

Kizito has waited for Miracle for over an hour now. Professor Femi had locked them up in an intensive and marathon lecture. Kizito parked his car not far away from Miracle’s lecture hall waiting patiently for them to be through.

It was around 6:30pm at dot that Miracle was done with Professor Femi’s lecture. She came out of the lecture hall tired and hungry.

On sighting Miracle, Kizito alighted down from the car and walked up to her.

‘Hello, beautiful. How are you?,’ Kizito greeted her with a smile.

‘Hey, what are you doing here?,’ Miracle had to ask because he caught her unaware.

‘What do you think I am doing here? Waiting for you of course,’ Kizito replied.

‘Why are you waiting for me? I hope there’s no problem?’, Miracle added.

‘All is not well at all. Miracle, I don’t seem to understand you anymore. What’s going on? What’s happening? You seem to be avoiding me lately,’ he paused amid frustration. ‘Look, there are many questions begging for answers. We need to talk. That’s why I am here. Let’s go to a quiet place and talk..’, Kizito said.

‘Talk about what?,’ Miracle interrupted.

‘About us. I don’t seem to understand you anymore. Please let’s go and talk,’ he paused. ‘Get into the vehicle. Let’s get a quiet place and talk..’

‘As you can see, I am very tired and hungry. I want to go home, eat and rest. I don’t have that strength for whatever talk you are talking about,’ Miracle made it clear to Kizito.

‘Don’t worry about hunger, I will take care of your stomach. Let’s go to the nearest eatery and eat. We have to talk. And it has to be today. I have waited for you for over two hours here for this purpose. So we have to iron things out today..’, Kizito insisted.

‘Can’t we leave this talk for another day?,’ Miracle asked.

‘No, It has to be today. I have waited for a day like this for so long. So now that I have the opportunity, let’s talk. Because I know I may not be this lucky tomorrow. Reason being that you always avoid me. You no longer always pick my calls. The worst part of it all is that you now hide from me. Let’s talk and let me know what I have done wrong to deserve all these punishments from you. ,’ Kizito said, honestly.

After much persuasion, Miracle had to enter the vehicle.

At first, they branched to an eatery where they ate to their satisfaction. Before finally going to a convenient place to talk.

‘…babe, what is my offense? Where have I gone wrong? Have I done bad to love you?,’ Kizito asked in a cracking voice as if he would cry.

‘What do you mean? What are you talking about?,’ Miracle replied.

‘Are you tired of me? Are you tired of our relationship?,’Kizito was bold enough to hit the hammer on the nail.

‘How?’.

‘Look, your attitude towards me these days speaks loudly of it. Babe, you are just a shadow of your former self in this relationship. Talk to me, what’s the problem?..’, Kizito was saying before Miracle interrupted.

‘I still don’t understand what you are talking about,’ Miracle said, nonchalantly.

‘You don’t come closer to me any longer. If I call, you hardly pick my calls. If I text you, you hardly reply. The worst of it all is that you now dulged me as if I am serial kîłler…’, Kizito lamented.

‘I have told you time without numbers that I am very busy. The studies are getting more intense and very time consuming. That’s why. Look, Is not as if I am avoiding you. No! I am not. Just that I am trying to concentrate more on my studies to meet up because I am lagging behind..’, Miracle stated her reason.

‘Are you indirectly calling for a break in our relationship? ,’ Kizito asked, just to know his stance in the relationship.

‘Not really. But I want you to understand that I don’t really have much time now. I don’t even have time for myself not to talk of having time for anybody..’, Miracle was saying before Kizito angrily interrupted.

‘But you have time for your sugar daddy, ehn? Or you think I don’t know that you now go out with a man who is old enough to be your father. So because of that old man, you no longer sleep in your lodge every weekend. Because of that old man, you now want to throw away the relationship that took us years to build. Or can you deny it?’, Kizito released the bombshell.

Indeed Miracle was caught up in the whole thing. She never saw this coming. However, she couldn’t deny or accept the accusation either. As she kept opening and closing her mouth without any word coming out.

‘Oh, you have suddenly become a dumb that you can’t talk again?. It shocked you, right? You were thinking I will not find out? Look, nothing will remain secret in this life. Because a leg that moves fast, eyes that see faster will see you..,’ Kizito vehemently said in anger.

‘I-I-I don’t know what you are talking about..’, Miracle stuttered, denying the accusation.

‘Don’t worry, very soon, you will know. Look, I am a lion. No one dares touch my tail and go scot free. I am not giving up on you. No one, not even that old man will take you away from me,’ Kizito made it clear. And amid the intensity and anger flaring up in the air, he drove off leaving Miracle behind. He even forgot to settle the bills.

Meanwhile, the shock still held Miracle hostage even as Kizito had left. As her buttocks were glued up in the chair. She was totally lost in thought.

‘Hello ma, cash, transfer or Pos?,’ the eatery attendant was asking. But all her energy fell on deaf ears. As Miracle was very much unaware of her environment.

At one point, the attendant had to tap Miracle. It was then she realized herself.

‘Oh, sorry’, Miracle apologized having found out how stranded the lady had been standing there.

‘Ma, cash, transfer or Pos,’ the attendant repeated.

‘Pos,’ Miracle stuttered. Then dipped hand into her handbag and brought out her ATM card.

Miracle settled the bills and dragged her heavy legs out of the eatery.

Actually, Miracle was caught with a man in a very big hotel somewhere on Lagos island. However, it wasn’t Kizito that saw them but one of his boys. Though the boy did not see the face of the man but his broad back as he walked together with Miracle into the hotel.

But he saw Miracle clearly.
