    If you ask me if I have ever slept without eating,I will just laugh.Here in campus I was living by the grace of God.I had to survive so that my young siblings can have something,that is why I never wanted to waste my life with people whose families were well off and had a future even if they failed to graduate in university.

    Mr Lennox saw me walking past the car,he then lowered the car window and called me,stretched his hands towards me and we Shook hands.

    The lecturer was a good person and the thought of him doing any harm to me didn’t cross my mind.Futhermore I was among the best in his courses even when it came to exams and this gave me confidence.He must admire how I take my work seriously,I thought.

    I arrived Mando park at about 7pm but my phone was already off. I kept my things with an Hausa man who sells little provisions in a kiosk. Immediately I called him and it rang until it ended without a response.

    I dialed again and this time a man picked the call but it wasn’t Jude’s voice. ” Kai, kari ki kira wonon nonban kuma, karuwa” then the man ended the call. I managed to rehearse what the man said to my Aboki friend where I kept my things but I couldn’t pronounce most of the Hausa words well, so interpreting it for me was difficult. Until we got a third party who understands Hausa and English well who interpreted what the man said “stop calling this number again, you prostitute.” After 30 minutes, it dawned on me that thieves had stolen Jude’s phone.

    Immediately I called Abdul to inform him of the development. He tried to make some calls to help me out but all his efforts did not yield anything good. It was getting late already, I asked the kiosk man of the nearest hotel that is affordable and he called a cyclist to take me to a hotel in Kawo where a room is #4500 per night. I checked in at about 9pm.

    The following morning I took my bath and picked a taxi drop to Zammani College. Zammani college was not difficult to locate as it is one of the most popular schools in Kaduna.

    ‘Good morning sir,’ I greeted the security man on duty. ‘Good morning my daughter, how may I help you?’ He asked. ‘I am a Corper from Calabar, I am here in search of my boyfriend who is serving in this school.’ ‘We have four male Corpers in this school but I don’t know their names and no staff is around today being Saturday.’

    I quickly described Preye and he remembered him. ‘That’s Uncle maths, he said. They call him uncle maths because he teaches mathematics in the school. I can give you the vice principal’s number so you can call to enquire from her because I haven’t seen uncle maths in the school for almost three weeks now.’
    ‘Hello ma’am, my name is Sobiefaa Oghenetega, I came from Calabar in search of a Corper serving in your school, by name Preye David Oghenetega.’ ‘Okay, I guess he’s your brother right?’ ‘Yes madam,’ She thought we are siblings because of our surname. ‘He took permission to be away for two months to attend to some important life issues. He will be back next month.’ she said.

    My phone dropped from my hand with uncontrollable tears rolling through my cheeks. The old security man understood the whole drama as he shook his head in pity.
    When I got to my hotel room, more than one hundred thoughts ran through my mind in a jiffy. My aim of coming to Kaduna had been defeated, what’s the essence of spending another night in this hotel? I took my things and checked out, took a cab and headed straight to Mando park. The journey was rough because I couldn’t get a direct vehicle to Calabar but I eventually arrived Calabar on Monday morning. Life since then has not been the same for me without Preye.

    It’s now a month since I returned from Kaduna. The vice principal said Preye will be back in a month’s time. I picked my phone and scrolled to her number. ‘Good day ma’am, this is Sobiefaa Oghenetega, the lady that spoke to you about Corper Preye David Oghenetega last month.’ Okay, Preye’s sister, how are you?’ She asked. ‘
    I am fine ma, I’m calling to know if he is back.’ No, we haven’t seen him yet and we’ve been worried as well. We have reported to the state coordinator of NYSC. This is really worrisome, where could he be?’ She asked.

    “Go”he said and she ran out still crying

    Luca dudged him and they continue like that for the next 15 minutes or so

    Luca now sustained a stab on the leg and arm

    “How dare you try and stop me?”he said moving towards him while luca moved back still on the ground

    “If you take another step,your head will blow off”he heard a voice and a police siren followed

    “Shit!”he muttered and he raised his hands,slowly turning back

    Diana ran in and rushed towards luca

    Carl was handcuffed and taken out

    Diana hugged luca close to her chest,she’s sobbing loudly as they hugged themselves

    “I love you so much”she said hugging him more as she cried and luca also smiled and closed his eyes,hugging her back

    THREE DAYS LATER

    Today is saturday and the girls are having their second test today

    Diana arrived with the sparks and she held luca’s hand till they got inside

    Since the day her father has been arrested,she has started living with the sparks,luca to be specific

    Avia and rose keep looking at them with disgust

    So the remaining 75 did the competition and 25 were disqualified while only 50 were picked

    Diana shouted luca’s name immediately they got out and she ran into his arms while he carried her up

    “Hey sis”anna winked at her but she rolled her eyes

    “Don’t worry,i’ll do better when it’s time for bicycle race”diana hugged luca and he smiled,patting her back

    “You tried baby,at least you came third,you got it from me”Kelvin said with a smile when he got to melody

    “Says someone who came last,last to third,how can one inherit such?”she rolled her eyes and walked away while he ran after her

    “Now it’s time for the kings race,are you ready?”the m.c shouted and they shouted back

    “Okay,Kingsley from blue team,Raymond from green team,Blake from yellow team and Richmond from red team”

    The called ones all walked out majestically,especially Richmond whose ego has almost reach the sky

    “On your mark…get ready…ready…”the whistle sounded and the kings took off right away

    Anna and ella ran forward to watch them clearly

    Rose and avia also moved forward

    “Kingsley!Kingsley!Kingsley..”anna chanted while the remaining ones only watched

    Ella is looking at both Raymond and blake

    Rose also looking at blake,while avia is looking at Kingsley also

    No one root for Richmond,even though he’s in the same group with anna

    Even his partners in crime were busy rooting for their crushes

    “The real king is taking the lead…”the m.c shouted

    Richmond ran after and almost pass Kingsley but Kingsley did not let his gaze leave the finish line for once

    She realized what she’s doing and made to come down but he held her trapped
