    A source who pleaded anonymity told Oriental Times: “There is a newly built VIP apartment in kirikiri correctional center, Bobrisky is occupying a room and palour in it, the parlour is furnished with flat screen tv, refrigerator and the chairs claimed to be donated was for his visitors.

    He has been giving money to Inmates. He is getting a special treatment inside, dresses with his female clothes while in men’s prison. He has also been receiving visitors on regular basis.”

    The social media personality and lawyer by the name Ridwan Oke has shared a post on his handle shedding more light on the reasons Cubana Chief Priest who pleaded ‘not guilty’ to alleged Naira abuse was granted 10 million Naira bail, whereas cross-dresser Bobrisky was sentenced to 6 months in prison for the same crime.

    The post was to help educate the general public on the reasons why both cases were handled differently. Read his submission below

    ‘I see people quoting this tweet with misinformation and outright ignorance.

    1. Bobrisky pleaded GUILTY when he was arraigned, Cubana Chief Priest pleaded NOT GUILTY, hence, the procedure is different.

    2. Bobrisky was sentenced to prison for 6 months without an option of fine having pleaded guilty. He admitted that he was wrong which made his/her process faster

    3. Cubana Chief Priest was granted Bail because he pleaded NOT GUILTY and that means the EFCC now have to prove that he’s guilty before the court can sentence him to prison, fine him or both.

    4. The 10M Naira bail condition is not a fine. In fact, he doesn’t have to pay it unless ordered by the court or where he jumps bail.

    5. Granting bail for such offence is in line with Section 36 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 ( As amended).

    6. In short, Cubana Chief Priest may still go to prison if the EFCC is able to prove the allegations against him.”

    Bobrisky was perceived as an ordinary detainee and underwent a thorough examination, which revealed no evidence of gender or genital organ realignment. His male biological characteristics remained unchanged.

    Idris Olanrewaju popularly known as Bobrisky was sentenced to six months imprisonment for naira mutilation. And according to several reports, the popular crossdresser is being held in male prison as he told the judge he is a male when asked.

    Justice Abimbola Awogboro of the Federal High Court in Lagos has sentenced cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, Aka Bobrisky, to six months in jail with no option of fine.

    The judgement was handed down on Friday April 12.

    The Nation reported the controversial cross-dresser pleaded guilty to the charge of naira abuse.

    The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), on Thursday, April 4, filed six-count of money laundering and abuse of naira against him.

    On Friday, April 5, EFCC arraigned Bobrisky in court on a six-count charge ranging from Abuse of the Naira and Money laundering.

    The court, however, dismissed the money laundering charges but convicted him for Naira Abuse after he confessed to the crime.

    The controversial cross-dresser, Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, arrived at the Federal High Court in Lagos for his arraignment on money laundering and naira abuse allegation, on Friday.

    Recall that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission had on Thursday filed six counts bordering on money laundering and abuse of the naira against Bobrisky.

    The commission said the offence was committed on March 24, 2024.

    Bobrisky was also alleged to have between July and August 2023 at Aja Junction, Ikorodu tampered with another N50,000 by spraying the same at a social event while dancing.

    The anti-graft agency said in December 2023 at White Steve Event Hall, Ikeja, Bobrisky also sprayed and tampered with another N20,000 while dancing.

    The Federal High Court in Lagos has convicted controversial cross-dresser, Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky for abusing the Naira.

    Justice Abimbola Awogboro convicted him after the review of the facts of the case on Friday,

    In his allocution, Bobrisky told the court that he was not aware of the law on abusing the naira.

    He said that he is a social media influencer with over five million followers. The judge then told him that ignorance of the law was not an excuse.

    He said: “I know, My Lord. My Lord, I wish that you could give me a second chance to use my platform to inform and educate my followers about spraying money.

    “I would do a video on my page and I will educate people about spraying money. I will not repeat it again. I regret my actions.”

    Bobrisky was arraigned on four counts of naira abuse preferred against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

    He was originally arraigned on a six-count charge, but two charges were dropped following a discussion between the parties.

    The EFCC on Thursday filed a six-count charge against Bobrisky at the Lagos Division of the Federal High Court over alleged money laundering and mutilation of the naira.

    Bobrisky was arrested by the anti-graft agency in connection with the offence.

    The cross-dresser who refers to himself as “Mummy of Lagos” pleaded guilty to the charges.

    The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has arrested controversial celebrity cross-dresser, Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, over currency mutilation and abuse of the Naira.

    Confirming the arrest, EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, said Bobrisky was arrested at Pinnock Estate in Lagos State on Wednesday.

    He also stated that Bobrisky would be charged in court soon.

    Oyewale said: “Bobrisky is with us. He was arrested last night in Lagos, and he is at our Lagos command.

    “We arrested him for alleged abuse of Naira notes, spraying of Naira notes, and currency mutilation, among others.

    “We are very serious about restoring the dignity of the Naira. Though our investigation is still ongoing, but he will definitely be charged to court soon.”

    A popular cross-dresser, Okuneye Idris Olanrewaju, popularly known as Bobrisky was arrested on Wednesday evening by personnel of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Lagos State.

    This was confirmed by the agency’s spokesman, Mr Dele Oyewale in a telephone conversation with SaharaReporters on Thursday morning.

    According to the EFCC spokesman, Bobrisky was arrested for mutilation of naira notes and not for his lifestyle as a cross-dresser.

    “It is true our boys arrested him yesterday evening in Lagos for naira abuse. We don’t have anything to do with his lifestyle (being a cross-dresser). He was suspected of committing an economic crime and that was the reason for his arrest,” Oyewale explained.

    Bobrisky’s arrest comes barely 24 hours after the Nigeria Police Force stated that it lacked enough evidence to arrest him for same-sex activities.

    The Nigeria Police Force on Tuesday said it could not arrest Bobrisky over calls to arrest the crossdresser.

    There have been calls for Bobrisky’s arrest, especially after social media influencer and blogger, Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan in recent videos condemned the award of Best Dressed Female to the cross-dresser at a Nollywood event.

    However, the Force Public Relations Officers, Olumuyiwa Ademola told Channels TV on Tuesday that cross-dressers cannot be arrested because Nigeria has no law against cross-dressing.

    He also said there is no evidence to support claims that cross-dressers also belong to the LGBTQ+ community.

    He said, “There are some cases that are always very difficult to prove.

    “I’m not ruling out that we have many of them. Let us be reasonable, you can’t have someone you want to prosecute without having credible evidence against them. I have not read anywhere where cross-dressing is an offence in Nigeria.

    “Some of them that are into cross-dressing, the allegation is that they are into something else.

    “That’s where the problem lies. We need to have enough proof, credible evidence to prove that they are actually into that. All those offences are natural offences in Nigeria and they are punishable under our laws.”

    The Same-Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Bill was signed into law in Nigeria on January 7, 2014, by then-President Goodluck Jonathan.

    The law criminalises public displays of affection between same-sex couples.

    The law imposes a 14-year prison sentence on anyone who “[enters] into a same-sex marriage contract or civil union”. It also imposes a 10-year sentence on individuals or groups, including religious leaders, who “witness, abet, and aid the solemnization of a same-sex marriage or union.”

    It imposes a 10-year prison sentence on those who “directly or indirectly make [a] public show of [a] same-sex amorous relationship” and anyone who “registers, operates, or participates in gay clubs, societies, and organizations,” including supporters of those groups.

    Police Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi has shared reasons why crossdressers in Nigeria cannot be arrested or prosecuted.

    The PRO was asked how the police are responding to the crossdressing crisis in Nigeria involving the likes of Bobrisky, James Brown, Jay Boogie and so on during an interview on Channels TV.

    According to Muyiwa Adejobi, certain cases are extremely challenging to prove. Citing rape case as an example, he said that there are numerous elements that need to be proven and failing to prove one of them could result in a case being dismissed in court.

    In his opinion, you cannot arrest someone you want to prosecute without having credible evidence against them.

    He further stated that crossdressing is not illegal in Nigeria to the best of his knowledge but the allegations on crossdressers are based on natural offences and requires credible evidence to be prosecuted.
