Shaboozey has channeled the classic J-Kwon hit “Tipsy” on the country star’s first single after appearing on Beyoncé’sCowboy Carter.
The Fairfax, VA-born artist shared a new acoustic guitar-driven jam entitled “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” on Friday (April 12). The track features an interpolation of the J-Kwon 2004 smash, repurposing some of the lyrics as part of the pre-chorus.
Shaboozey recites: “One, here comes the two, to the three, to the four/ Tell ’em ‘Bring another round,’ we need plenty more/ Two steppin’ on the table, she don’t need a dance floor/ Oh my, good Lord.”

J-Kwon released “Tipsy” as his debut single after inking a deal with Jermaine Dupri’s So So Def Recordings in 2004, and saw the track rapidly become a club hit in the U.S., U.K. and even chart in Australia.
His debut album, Hood Hop, was also released in 2004 and spawned another moderate success with the title track. The project peaked at no. 7 on the Billboard 200 album chart and at no. 4 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop albums chart.
Shaboozey has the distinction of being the only featured artist to appear on two Cowboy Carter tracks: “Sweet Honey Buckiin’” and “Spaghettii,” which have helped him gain new fans and maybe some new confidence as well.
Earlier this week, the artist revealed that he strongly believes he can woo Latto — despite the rumors she’s already spoken for.
The 28-year-old made it clear he has the hots for the Atlanta rapper by reacting to her recent mirror selfie and writing: “Hiii” along with a waving hand emoji.
When he was informed by fans that Latto is “taken,” Shaboozey cast doubt on the rumors by replying: “By who??? Says who???”
“latto been boo’d up for a minute,” another user told him, to which he said: “Why they ain’t never post each other???”
The “Beverly Hills” singer continued to be undeterred by Latto’s alleged relationship status by writing in another tweet: “It’s gon work. Trust [skull emoji].”
While they haven’t publicly confirmed they’re in a relationship, rumors have swirled for some time that Latto and 21 Savage are quietly dating.
Last year, the “Big Energy” rapper fueled the speculation by getting a tattoo of the word “Sheyaa” behind her ear. “Sheyaa” just so happens to be 21’s first name.
Months later, the Atlanta-raised rap star seemingly reciprocated the gesture by getting “Alyssa” — Latto’s birth name — inked behind his own ear in the same place.
Latto was previously quizzed about the romance rumors in 2021 but shot them down.
“No,” she told Wild 94.1 in an interview. “It’s videos on YouTube of me performing with him at the Palace, I think that was the Palace. Like, it be real respect, you know what I’m saying?”
However, the chatter ramped up later that year when Savage celebrated his 29th birthday and received a romantic gift that had many people thinking love was in the air for the Her Loss hitmaker.
Footage from his birthday celebrations showed a birthday cake sat next to red balloons, lit candles and a rose arrangement which spelled out 21.
