Pusha T has seemingly joined Kendrick Lamar in jabbing Drake ahead of the Compton rapper’s performance at next year’s Super Bowl.
While announcing the big news on Sunday (September 8), Kendrick himself appeared to take a subtle dig at the 6 God, with whom he’s been embroiled in a bitter feud since the start of the summer.
In a promo video announcing himself as the 2025 Super Bowl halftime show headliner, K. Dot seemingly responded to a recent video Drake posted promising a “game two” victory, saying: “You know it’s only one opportunity to win a championship; no round twos.”
Pusha reposted Kendrick’s quote on his Instagram Stories and appeared to reference his own 2018 beef with Drizzy, which saw him have the final word with his scathing — not to mention salacious — diss song “The Story of Adidon.”
The Clipse MC has been firmly on Kendrick Lamar’s side in his high-profile contest with mutual enemy Drake.
In June, he shared his reaction to K. Dot namedropping him on the diss song “Euphoria” (“Fuck all that pushin’ P, let me see you push a T [Pusha T]”) and was not shy in showering him with praise.
“Incredible. Incredible display,” King Push said in an interview with Vulture. “Incredible display of battle raps. Listen man, Kendrick…”
While some would argue that Pusha T only narrowly defeated Drake in 2018, Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl announcement has only further strengthened the narrative that he’s the clear winner in his own battle with the 6 God.
In addition to the aforementioned sublimimal in his halftime show promo, some have interpreted Kendrick simply headlining the Super Bowl as a calculated response to Drizzy’s “First Person Shooter,” which helped to reignite the long-simmering feud.
The song finds Drake and J. Cole bragging about being as “big as the Super Bowl,” while the video shows them playing chess — a nod to Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi’s 2022 Louis Vuitton photo shoot.
Referencing this scene, one fan wrote on X (formerly Twitter): “Kendrick seen them playing chess and said ‘CHECKMATE [football emoji].’”
The news hasn’t been received positively by everyone, though, and not just Drake fans.
Shortly after the announcement, Lil Wayne’s longtime engineer Fabian Marasciullo seemingly voiced his frustrations with the NFL’s decision to book Kendrick Lamar to perform at the Super Bowl in New Orleans.
“Confused. Disappointed. Angry. But most of all. Inspired,” Marasciullo wrote. “Will never again be in a position or have the [goat emoji] in a position where we are at the mercy of someone else’s decision. We will make the decisions.”
He appeared to be referencing Weezy’s wish to headline the Super Bowl halftime in his hometown — something he made no secret of.
