The rise and elevation of Oyinloluwa: How the bass guitar is shaping a gospel musician’s journey
For Nigerian-born, UK-based gospel musician Oyinloluwa Bamidele, professionally known as Oyinloluwa or Oyinbass, the journey from developing his musical ability to earning recognition within the gospel music industry has been built on consistency, discipline and a commitment to his craft.
Primarily a bass guitarist, Oyinloluwa has spent years developing the instrument that has become central to his professional identity. Although his work extends into songwriting, music production, composition and music direction, it is his bass guitar expertise that has played a defining role in his journey and opened doors to wider opportunities.
His growing recognition came through his association with EeZee Conceptz Global, which introduced him to a wider network of gospel artistes and professional music opportunities. His contributions to projects involving Minister G.U.C., including Lamb of God and Potter – Refix, further brought his musicianship to the attention of gospel music audiences.
For Oyinloluwa, these opportunities represented an important stage in a journey that had started long before the wider recognition. They demonstrated how an instrumentalist could build a professional identity through years of preparation, skill development and consistency, without necessarily being the lead vocalist or public face of a musical project.
His story also reflects a broader conversation about the place of instrumentalists in contemporary gospel music. While singers and ministers often receive the most public attention, the musicians behind the sound play an essential role in shaping the quality and delivery of a performance.
Oyinloluwa’s approach to music goes beyond seeing his abilities solely as a church activity. He regards musicianship as a profession that requires continuous development, discipline and an understanding of the wider music industry. For him, serving God through music and earning a living from professional musical work are not necessarily conflicting responsibilities.

This perspective has also informed his views on the remuneration of gospel instrumentalists. He believes musicians should be free to volunteer their services when that is their personal conviction, but professional instrumentalists who depend on music for their livelihood should also be entitled to fair remuneration.
“You can choose to use your skills to serve God voluntarily as a volunteer. But for people like me, who live and make a living from this, I do not mind being appreciated for the skills. It is my profession, and it puts food on my table,” he has explained.
Beyond performance, Oyinloluwa has continued to broaden his musical contributions through songwriting and collaborations. His credits include Great by Tomi Folayan, I Will Not Fear by Sam Petts and Prayer by Brenique Adams, among other gospel music projects.
His work on He’s Good, featuring Sam Petts and Cole IZRL, also reflects his involvement in different aspects of music creation. He contributed to the songwriting, instrumental production and arrangement, while playing the bass guitar on the record.
Now based in the United Kingdom, Oyinloluwa continues to pursue opportunities in recording, live performance, music production and musical collaboration. His professional development represents a transition from simply possessing musical ability to building a career around a specialised skill.
The rise and elevation of Oyinloluwa is therefore not just a story about recognition or association with established gospel artistes. It is also about the value of consistency, the importance of instrumental musicianship and the opportunities that can emerge when talent is developed with professionalism and purpose.
For a musician whose journey has been shaped by the bass guitar, the bigger achievement may be the growing recognition that the instrument, and the professional skill behind it, can create a sustainable place within the gospel music industry.
