Bright Echefu Makes ‘Made in Nigeria’ a Global Standard”

Amid Nigeria’s unrelenting battle against insecurity and the ongoing foreign exchange crisis, a powerful voice is emerging, one that is championing the rise of indigenous innovation in defense and national security. That voice belongs to none other than Dr. Bright Echefu, a leading Nigerian entrepreneur, defense strategist, and tech visionary who is boldly transforming the security manufacturing space.

At a recent media parley in Abuja, Dr. Echefu made a stunning revelation that is reshaping the nation’s defense narrative: “Nigeria no longer imports drones. They rely on local manufacturing companies like us,” he declared.

This bold statement, grounded in fact, underscores a seismic shift in how Nigeria approaches defense procurement. As the founder of EIB Stratoc, a high-level corporate security and intelligence outfit, and Briech UAS, a rising powerhouse in the Unmanned Aerial Systems sector, Dr. Bright Echefu is at the forefront of this transformation.

According to him, government policies under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu are now prioritizing local innovation, ushering in a new era of self-reliance, reduced import dependency, and economic value creation.

“The Nigerian government has recognized that there is a need to allow homegrown companies to thrive. That’s why it is now mandatory that before you look outside, you first consider what’s available within the country,” Dr. Echefu said.

This policy shift has empowered companies like Briech UAS to build indigenous drones, defense equipment, and even bomb products that were once solely imported at high forex costs.

“Even bombs, yes, we produce locally,” Dr. Echefu affirmed. “DICON (Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria) has been producing bullets and has now started manufacturing bombs as well.”

The implications of this pivot are far-reaching. By producing key military and security equipment domestically, Nigeria is not only bolstering its strategic independence but is also saving millions in foreign exchange. While Dr. Echefu admits that it’s “hard to determine exactly how much we’ve saved Nigeria,” he emphasized that the impact is undeniable.

“A lot is going on. People are even producing tractors in Nigeria now,” he added.

Industry watchers believe that Dr. Bright Echefu’s work is more than innovation it’s a national mission. As the Tinubu administration doubles down on economic diversification and national security reform, visionaries like Echefu are leading the charge with real, scalable solutions.

With local companies now stepping into roles once dominated by foreign contractors, and with EIB Stratoc and Briech UAS blazing the trail, Dr. Bright Echefu is proving that made-in-Nigeria doesn’t mean second-best; it means globally competitive, economically smart, and nationally proud.

In an era where narrative matters, Dr. Bright Echefu is not just reshaping perception, he’s rewriting history. From drones to defense strategies, he is showing that the future of Nigeria’s security lies not abroad, but right here at home.
