Tyla beats Davido, Burna Boy, Ayra Starr, and Asake to win the Grammy Award for Best African Music Performance
With her song “Water,” Tyla, a South African, received the 2024 Grammy Award for Best African Music Performance.
In addition to Davido featuring Musa Keys (“Unavailable”), Ayra Starr (“Rush”), Burna Boy (“City Boys”), and Asake and Olamide (“Amapiano”), this is the first year the category has been nominated.
Tyla wins the Grammy for Best African Music Performance, defeating Davido, Burna Boy, Ayra Starr, and Asake in the process.
Three brand-new categories, including Best Alternative Jazz Album and Best Pop Dance Recording, will make their Grammy Awards debut in 2024. One of them is Best African Music Performance.
“Water” can be heard on Tyla’s debut album of the same name, which drops on March 22.
