Tems Sole Nigerian Winner at BET Awards 2024 [FULL LIST]
At this year’s BET Awards, held at Los Angeles’s Peacock Theater on Sunday night, Tems was the only Nigerian to win an award. Her song “Me & U” won the Dr. Bobby Jones Best Gospel/Inspirational Award, overcoming competition from gospel legends such as Kirk Franklin, Shirley Caesar, and Maverick City Music.
Other Nigerian artists, including Ayra Starr and Asake, were nominated but did not win. Starr and Asake lost the Best International Act to South Africa’s Tyla.
Starr also lost Best New Artist to Tyla and BET Her to Victoria Monét. Seyi Vibez lost Best New International Act to South Africa’s Makhadzi.
