RACHEL’S pov
Baldwin’s Mansion, Days Later<<
It’s been almost a week since my husband last came home, five days to be precised, he still haven’t picked any of my calls, and he doesn’t even call me back when he saw my missed calls -I doubt he sees them at all.
I have stopped calling him three days ago, and resorted to calling Lucas but he kept on giving me the same excuse over and over again.
What kind of work has kept Duncan so busy that he’d forget his family? Why can’t I help the feeling that he’s avoiding me? But why would he be avoiding me?
Or has he has done something against my wish, because he only stays away from home when he’s gone against my wish.
It’s been almost a week too since I last saw Fatima, though we’ve been talking on phone and she assured me that she’s fine, but I feel like she’s not.
“Rachel, there’s a delivery for you” nanny Pamela shouted from the living room.
“Coming” I answered.
I pushed my cream aside, snatched my towel and wrapped it around my chest, then rushed downstairs to claim my delivery.
“Oh my goodness!” Nanny Pamela exclaimed when she saw me. “You’re sick but wouldn’t stop running around barefooted, and in nothing but your towel”
I looked down at my feet and realized I wasn’t wearing any footwear.
“Do you intend on being sick until you’re due?!” she asked in a scolding tone.
I shook my head, and mentally rolled my eyeballs when I saw Mrs Jackson glaring maliciously at me.
Right, I’ve been pretending to be sick since I refused to drink her milk, and I haven’t eaten anything cooked by her -in fact, I don’t eat anything that’s cooked in this mansion anymore, wether it’s cooked by her or nanny Pamela.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s not that I don’t trust my mother-in-law (nanny Pamela), I’m just being cautious and careful of the people around me -my husband isn’t around to protect me, so I’ve got to be smart for my son.
Honestly, I’m scared, very scared of staying in this big mansion alone, with devilish Mrs Jackson and powerless nanny Pamela
What’s gonna happen to me and my son if Mrs Jackson finally decide to strike openly?
It’s so sad that my husband isn’t always around every and any time I need him, he dragged me into this mess and decided to turn his back on me -I mentally sighed.
Maybe I’ll take matters into my hands, and investigate Mrs Jackson by myself.
“Rachel!” Nanny Pamela spanked my @ss softly, to get my attention.
“Yeah?”
“I said you should get your delivery and hurry back to your room, and change into some warm clothes!” she ordered.
“Yes, nanny” I answered, and averted my gaze from Mrs Jackson, then rushed towards the door.
“Hello, Mrs Baldwin” the delivery man greeted me immediately I opened the door.
“Hello, Mathias” I replied him with a polite smile.
As usual Jeb (our security man) was standing two feet away from us, he’s observing Mathias as though this was the first time he’s seeing him (Mathias).
“Here’s your pizza” he said.
“Oh, thank you” I reached for it. “I’ve been starving” I reached for some notes in my small purse and paid him.
Jeb’s eyes narrowed at a spot on the pizza pack, but I subconsciously hide it away from him and rushed back in.
“See Mathias out” I told Jeb as I rushed inside.

“Time to enjoy my pizza” I said as I made it back to our room.
I lounged on a sofa in the sitting area in our room, dropped the pizza on the table and opened it, but I was taken aback by a piece of paper I saw inside.
I reached for it and was about discarding it, but the first sentence on it shocked me and I opened it with a frown.
‘Rachel, I know who your husband’s enemy is, I know very well who he’s been looking for all these years, just come to me and I’ll tell you everything you need to know, call the number below when you’re ready -Tasha Wood’
Tasha knows who Duncan’s enemy is? Is she trying to pull a prank on me, or what? How can she know who Duncan’s enemy is while he’s been searching fruitlessly for years?
What should I do now? Should I trust her words? Should I call her for more enquiry? Or maybe I should call Duncan first and inform him about this?
Yes, I should call Duncan first.
I quickly reached for my phone, and dialed Duncan’s number, but groaned frustratingly when it went straight to voicemail.
“What should I do now?” I thought out loud. “Who should I call?”
Then Fatima’s number crossed my mind, and I quickly dialed it, thankfully, she picked up after a few rings.
“Heyyyy, babygirl” she hyped me.
I rolled my eyeballs.
“I need your help, Fatty” I told her, going straight to the point.
“Oh, ok”
“I’ve been trying to reach Duncan via phone call but couldn’t, can you call him and tell him our home isn’t safe for me anymore?”
“What?!” I could imagine her frowning right now. “What’s going on?”
I shook my head, but remembered she can’t see me.
“Mrs Jackson tried to force me into drinking a poisoned milk five days ago, and I just received a weird note from Tasha” I paused and released a shaky breath. “I’m scared, Fatty”
My eyes landed on I and Duncan’s old wedding photo, and tears brimmed my eyes which I tried my best to hold back.
It hurts when the one you love so dearly, isn’t there for you when you needed him most, I’m trying to understand and accept Duncan, but he keeps on making the same mistake everytime.
“Rachel?”
“I’m scared, Fatty, I’m feeling so lonely and tired of everything” I said. “I don’t even know where my husband is at the moment, and there are a lot of things I wanna tell him” I sighed. “Please call him and tell him I’m no longer safe here, he needs to come back home right away”
“I’ll call him, and don’t do anything stupid, I’ll be there in twenty” she said and hang up.
I tossed my phone on the table, threw my head back and massaged my temples softly.
“Why can’t we just be like normal couples? Why can’t we enjoy our marriage without all these troubles?!” I questioned myself.

THIRD PERSON’S pov.
Black-Knight’s Base, LA<<
Mr Baldwin’s phone buzzed on the desk which caught his attention, he glared at the screen and saw Fatima’s name flashing on it, but turned off his phone, and focused his attention on the file he was reading.
After a few seconds, the buzz died down and he reached for his phone, and dialed his wife’s number, but suddenly frowned deeply.
“Why can’t I get through to her every fuçking time?!” he growled and tossed his phone back on the table.
He leaned back on his swivel chair, threw his head back and began massaging his forehead frustratingly.
“Voicemail every goddamn time!” he grumbled.
Just then there’s a knock on the door, and he ushered whoever’s standing outside in.
The door pushed open, and Lucas walked in.
“Sir” Lucas bowed respectfully.
Mr Baldwin sprang up at once and rushed round the table to him.
“How’s my family? Is everything ok at home?” he asked anxiously.
“Uh… ”
“Uh?”
Lucas cleared his throat.
“According to Mrs Baldwin’s secret guards, she’s been doing fine and has always stayed at home lately, but… ” he trailed off.
