Popular singer Jay Wheeler has shared an emotional testimony about his recent spiritual conversion in a video titled “Talking about my most recent experiences with God,” posted on his social media.
Visibly moved and in tears , Wheeler recounted the shocking experience that marked a before and after in his life: a car accident .
Wheeler’s spiritual turning point came just two days after the birth of her daughter, Aiunii , on Sept. 3.
José Ángel López Martínez , accompanied by friends, was on his way to record a music video when his vehicle suffered a strong impact. Trapped and in the midst of desperation, an unexpected rescue occurred when an unknown person helped them get out of the car.
“My God!” Wheeler exclaimed at that critical moment, later feeling a deep gratitude and a spiritual calling so strong that it led him to make the decision to dedicate his life to God.
“I don’t want people to think I’m just taking advantage of this moment to change ,” Wheeler said, noting that he had been contemplating the move for some time, but the demands of his career and his brand as ‘Jay Wheeler’ made it difficult for him to take the plunge.
This incident, coupled with the coincidence that a friend of his, without recognizing him, witnessed the accident, convinced him definitively.
Although the 30-year-old Puerto Rican has promised to continue with his secular music due to previous commitments, he assures that there will be changes in how he presents himself to the world, both in his music and in his interactions on social media.
“This doesn’t mean I’ll change overnight,” he said, “but I’ll gradually adjust what I can within the limits of my contracts.”
The singer also anticipates criticism for not immediately using his platforms to preach, but remains steadfast in his commitment to making music for God and modifying his content as possible.
