Considered one of the most famous inmates in the criminal history of Nuevo León, Diego Santoy Riveroll graduated as a lawyer from the Citizen University of Nuevo León (UCNL).

Alias ​​’the Cumbres killer’ finished his studies on August 30th along with 19 other people. The ceremony was headed by Javier Navarro, Secretary General of Government; Sofialeticia Morales, Secretary of Education; and Senator Luis Donaldo Colosio, who acted as godfather of this first generation made up of 20 inmates from the Apodaca prison.

In his message, Navarro pointed out that, upon completing their studies, graduates undertake the commitment to multiply their acquired knowledge for the benefit of society.

You have just made history so that all people deprived of their freedom in the State can aspire, just like you, to obtain a professional degree, transform their lives and be the driving forces that generate change ,” said Javier Navarro.

It should be noted that the ‘Cumbres killer’ was sentenced in 2006 for the murder of the Peña Coss siblings, Erick Azur and María Fernanda, in the Cumbres neighborhood in Monterrey, Nuevo León. The minors were seven and nine years old.

According to reports, Santoy arrived at the home of his then girlfriend Erika, where an argument broke out and, due to the noise, his brothers decided to come down from their rooms, but were killed by Riveroll.

Following a series of trials and investigations, the court found Diego Santoy responsible for the crimes of aggravated homicide, attempted aggravated homicide, aggravated robbery and illegal deprivation of liberty in the form of kidnapping.

For all the above, he was sentenced to 71 years, seven months and 27 days in prison, and must also pay damages of 337,760 pesos.
