    There’s a popular saying that bad company corrupts good manners. When you linger too long in the presence of negative influence, it’s just a matter of time before you get negatively influenced. Just so you know, conducting a DNA Test to determine the paternity of your child with your spouse isn’t bad at all; especially when there’s nothing for either of you to hide, but the problem is that these kind of tests are usually conducted secretly by one party of the union and the motive for doing the test is most often tied to lack of trust for the other party. Now, do you know how sad it is for your spouse to doubt the paternity of his child with you? How sad it is for your spouse to go behind your back to conduct a test that scre-ms “I don’t trust you”? I know majority might find nothing wrong for one party of a marriage union to conduct a DNA Test and it’s perfectly OK to think such way, but one question remains unanswered in cases such as this and that question is no other than “Why marry someone you don’t trust?”.

    This question has remained unanswered for so many decades now. Why go down the road of ‘Forever’ with someone you can’t trust the paternity of your children to? There were so many chances to detect dishonesty in that person while you were still courting; that was the perfect time to evaluate your partner’s character or attitude to know if they were worth your commitment and love. Why marry the person you don’t trust only to stress yourself after getting married by conducting a DNA Test after every birth of your child? The thought of how stressful and emotional draining such practices bring is devastating to imagine. Too bad Belinda was caught up in such triangle.

    One sad thing about this test is that it is usually conducted by one party of the union and not both parties. What happened to having an open conversation with your spouse about conducting the test so the both of you can partake in it? If there’s any skeleton in anyone’s cupboard, it will definitely get exposed after the test but if there isn’t any shady thing to hide, then both parties will be vindicated evenly. If things were done this way, then I guess the hurt and pain of the presence of distrust will be on a minimal level, than if one party conducted the test in secret.

    Moving on, things weren’t looking too beautiful again in the marriage union of the once loving couple. Ace had started nurturing a secret intention of conducting a DNA Test on his child to confirm if his son ‘Junior’ was truly his. He was immediately linked to a doctor in another town that did such test. The doctor was contacted and an appointment was booked for the following week.

    Ace was instructed by the doctor to get some hair samples of his son for the test. The test cost a lot of money but that wasn’t going to stop the desperate man from getting some answers.

    At this point, we could call it fate because God might have orchestrated everything to happen the way it did so the hidden revelation about the switched babies would come to light. It’s been over 6 years since Belinda had been nurturing someone else’s child while hers was far away in an unfortunate state and condition. Despite the fact that things might not go in favour of either of them once the DNA result comes out, but at least it would come to Belinda’s knowledge that something was wrong somewhere and hopefully, they would find out what went wrong.

    After a long day at work that evening, Ace returned home and was welcomed by his lovely wife and son. “Welcome babe, how was work today?” Belinda asked, “It was stressful, I’m just tired” he replied as he gently rubbed his son’s head. “How was school today?” Ace inquired, “Fine daddy!” Junior hurriedly replied as they made their way in,side the house.

    If only Belinda knew the thoughts that ran through her husband’s mind as he starred at her and Junior that fateful evening, her heart would have shattered. Belinda had no clue that while she slept that very night, Ace made his way to their son’s room to cut a small portion of the little boy’s already low hair-cut.

    The sight of Ace creeping and tiptoeing into Junior’s room that night was enough to bring tears to the eyes of any faithful wife. It might look or feel like nothing to some people and might feel like the height of betrayal to others. Not everyone is unfaithful and there’s nothing as devastating as being perceived as something you are far from. Poor Belinda!

    Days slowly passed by as Ace waited for his doctor’s appointment. Those few days were the most traumatising days of his life and it gave him goose-bumps and intense tension. He couldn’t just wait to get everything over with and know the truth once and for all. After waiting for few days, the D-day finally came for the DNA Test to be conducted.

    Before Ace went out of town that very day, Belinda woke up early and made him the best breakfast he have had in a while. Everything he was about to do felt very wrong but his mind was already made up and also, God’s will had to be done regardless. It was time for the hidden truth about the switched babies to come to light for the first time in 6 years. Things might not go smoothly or well, but there is always light at the end of the tunnel.

    “Good day sir” the nurse at the hospital reception greeted, “Good afternoon, my name is Ace and I have an appointment with Doctor Mark” he said. The nurse immediately processed the information and told him to wait a little. After waiting for about 20 minutes, he was called into the Doctor’s office.

    It was a swift visit; the hair samples were collected and the test fee was paid after a brief counselling. Ace was informed on when the results will be out. He thanked the doctor for being of good service and took his leave.

    As problem and crisis drew nearer to the couple’s marriage, Belinda started having strange nightmares about things that weren’t clear to her understanding. She started sensing the danger ahead and her peace of mind gradually diminished. On the other hand, Ace pretended as though he was up to nothing and went about his normal life, with his fingers crossed as he anticipated the DNA Test result.

    On the fateful day that broke the camel’s back, Belinda woke up that morning with cold feets. She didn’t know why she was so scared and worried. The first place she went to that morning was her son’s room. The sight of Junior sleeping peacefully was to die for. They love struck mother couldn’t get her eyes off her handsome son; she was smitten. If only she knew what was ahead of her that fateful day. Sad!

    Later that morning, Belinda made breakfast and everyone came downstairs to eat as a family. It was a quick breakfast because Junior had to go to school afterwards and both parents also needed to head out to their various businesses.

    As everyone ate happily, Ace phone rang. He looked to see the caller and it was his doctor from the DNA test venture. In order not to expose his little secret, he refused to pick up the call. Belinda noticed what happened but waived it off as nothing significant. Few minutes later, everyone ate finish and headed to their various destination.

    Immediately Ace drove far away from his house, he parked the car at the side walk of the road and dialed the doctor’s number. The phone rang briefly before he picked up. “Hello doctor, trust you slept well? I was busy when you called” Ace said, Good morning, It’s fine; I wanted to call yesterday evening but was busy too. I just want to inform you that the result is out” the doctor said.

    That piece of information sent chills down Ace’s spine. He was now close to finding out the truth that had tortured him for quite a long time. “Do I need to come to the hospital? or you can tell me now what the result says and I will appreciate it” he said, “You want to know right now? Through the phone?” the doctor inquired and he replied ‘Yes please!”.

    The moment of truth had finally come. The reply that would make or break Belinda’s marriage was about to be let loose. Ace heart raced and his palms suddenly became sweaty as he desperately anticipated the doctor’s reply.

    After a moment of silence, the doctor finally said; “The paternity result came out Negative; You are the Father of your Son”.

    Trust is very delicate and might never be gotten back once lost. In a marriage union between two people, trust is one essential trait they have to possess for one another. It isn’t a child’s play for someone to leave their father and mother to unite with another person for the rest of their life. For you to effectively live happily in your matrimonial home, you have to trust your spouse more than you have ever trusted anyone else; except God.

    Can you eat, sleep and relax in the company of another person except there’s a presence of Trust? For you to openly confess “I do” to your spouse; thereby vouching to spend the rest of your life with him/her, simply means that you trust that person with a large part of your heart. Now, what if that trust was broken? What if something happened along the line that shattered your heart and made that trust questionable?

    What if your marriage encountered a serious challenge that posed as a Big threat to the trust you once had for your partner? What if the reason you doubted your partner was false and you ended up looking like a fool for not trusting him/her and seeing through the circ-mstance to detect the slightest clue that your spouse was innocent of the accusation levied against him/her? Also, in the midst of all these questions, there’s another silent one that asks; “How would you handle a case of tampered trust?”. Well, buckle up because this tale is going to be one of a kind.

    Few years back, Belinda was heavily pregnant for the love of her life ‘Ace’. The expectant couple were extremely happy and had a smile on their faces every single time they counted down to the delivery date of their little angel. During the course of Belinda’s pregnancy, Ace didn’t let her touch a pin; talk more of letting her do domestic household chores. The expectant mummy-to-be was pampered beyond what you could ever imagine and she effortlessly glowed through her pregnancy.

    Despite the fact that Ace was a busy business man, he never compromised family time. He made sure to visit the hospital with his expectant wife whenever he could, he made sure to return home on time to rub her back or feet, he made sure to bath her every night even when she had the strength to bath herself, and he made sure to be the best husband he could be to his wife.

    Life looked very beautiful for the two love birds that one could blush at the thought of how beautiful their new born would be. The future looked extremely promising for them but it’s sad that things took a drastic turn somewhere along the line.

    Turns out that long before Belinda got married nor pregnant, she had always been afraid of giving birth in the hospital for some reasons unknown. This lady dreaded hospitals and told her husband a couple of times that she would love to have her baby at home, but he laughed and waived the topic whenever she brought it up. Ace felt it was part of the pregnancy Fever and didn’t take his wife’s words seriously at that point.

    If only Ace knew that God was trying to communicate with him through Belinda, maybe he would have listened and honoured his wife’s desire of birthing their child at home with a midwife and doctor present. He had the money to pull such power and make his wife’s wish come true but felt she was just making up weird things in her head due to the baby in her tummy. God saw a catastrophe ahead and tried to protect these lovely couple but they weren’t attentive enough to catch God’s signals. Too bad!

    Life continued as nothing was heard or communicated and as Belinda’s delivery date drew nearer, her fear worsened. She searched her heart over again to get even the slightest clue of why she kept having cold feet about delivering her baby in the hospital but no clarity was in sight. With Belinda’s mother being a good support system, the elderly woman encouraged her daughter to be fearless and was always there to boost her faith whenever it was wavering. After a little while, the fear gradually disappeared and was no where to be found. it’s too sad that they succeeded in shutting a voice that tried to prevent them from a future disaster. If only they knew? Too bad they didn’t.

    Finally, the highly anticipated day came. On the day Belinda’s water broke, Ace was out of town and couldn’t make it to his wife’s delivery. The only closest person to Belinda at that moment was their house helper, gate man and driver. They all carried her in,side the car and the driver zoomed off to the hospital she was scheduled to give birth in.

    Immediately they left the house to the hospital, the house help called Belinda’s mother and told her about the new development. Without letting the lady finish passing the information across, Belinda’s mum hanged the call and immediately headed to the hospital to be there for her daughter.

    Everything happened so fast that day and before the driver even reached the hospital, labour pains began. As they arrived at the hospital, Belinda was rushed to the labour room and after a little while, she gave birth to a bouncing baby boy but something unfortunate happened that day.

    It happened that immediately Belinda gave birth, she became very tired and dozed off without consciously looking at her baby very well to at least know his face. At that time, her mum was still on her way to the hospital and hadn’t arrived yet. It happened that the nurses in charged of the delivery took the baby out of the room to clean him up, but they forgot to tag him for easy identification.

    After the nurses were done cleaning the baby, one of them laid him on a large baby court that contained 3 other babies. The 3 babies there were tagged on their hands expect Belinda’s child. Everything happened so fast and before the nurses could tag the child, another baby boy without a tag was immediately brought in for cleaning too.

    The babies looked almost the same that it was a bit difficult to differentiate them without a tag. After they were done cleaning the new baby that arrived, Belinda’s mum arrived at the hospital and immediately requested to see her grandchild. Belinda was still asleep at the time and wasn’t aware of what was happening. Due to the swift manner at which her mum demanded to see her grandchild, the nurse who just came in assumed that the baby that currently underwent cleaning belonged to Belinda, so she carried that one to meet the excited granny. The fact that it was a boy and there wasn’t a tag on the baby’s wrist, made it convincing that he belonged to Belinda; as it was apparent to the nurse that the birth just happened a few minutes ago. If only they all knew that the right baby was still lying on the baby’s court at the cleaning room. Quite unfortunate!

    As the nurse made a majestic entrance to Belinda’s hospital room with a wrong baby, another nurse was making a majestic entrance to another woman’s hospital room with Belinda’s son. What a heartbreaking and careless situation. At that point, there was nothing anyone could do to reverse the mistake because no one was aware of the error that had happened.

    Immediately the nurse entered the room, Belinda regained consciousness and her baby boy was handed over to her. Smiles filled everyone’s face as they looked at the little bundle of joy staring them in the face. He was so peaceful to behold and it sent chills down Belinda’s spine.

    The happy mother looked at her switched baby boy with a smile on her face and gently said; “Welcome to the World my Prince”.

    Within a short period of time, we were already like “Ohhh baby I can’t wait to see you, baby I can’t wait to do this and all that”…, he based in ondo state and I base in Lagos.. And I decided to go to ondo… because he said he doesn’t have anybody in Lagos and he has an apartment in Ondo, and even me as a person I was already tired of Lagos… I wanted to travel and see other states, so I travelled to ondo and spent a couple of days, and i returned to Lagos before Christmas,… I went there again on the 31st, and I returned home January 2018.

    We always wanted to see each other more often, so I Left for his place, towards the end of January 2018.. and I spent my valentine

    Before I left Ondo.. I was already have some kind of feelings that the guy is not going to be serious, because we used to have issues back then.. and am the type that gets angry easily but I ignored the feelings because I was so in love with him..

    I discovered I was pregnant when I was in Lagos, and it was after three months I got to know i was pregnant… and I called to and informed him I was already pregnant

    Fast Forward to when ray visited my shop, well i wasn’t expecting him because he called earlier on this morning to tell me he won’t make it and that he had a meeting with his client at his workplace so i wasn’t expecting him, as usual i was relaxing reading my novel when i heard footsteps at first i thought it was a customer i turned to check and here he walks in.

    I stoodup and we hugged eachother and kissed.

    “you told me you won’t be coming

    “well plans changed! see dear i can’t start up my day without seeing your beautiful face ”

    “lol stop teasing me” i smiled stu*pidly and rested my arms on his shoulder;
    He kissed my forehead and requested to take me out for lunch later in the day.

    This is how we’ve been lovey dovey until oneday i stopped seeing his calls . i tried all possible way to get him pick my calls but to no avail. i was disturbed; what could have happened, its been 2 weeks now, no calls and when i tried calling no one picks up , something is wrong somewhere.

    I was deep in thoughts so i decided to share my plight with lilian because she always has a solution to my problems; but she wasn’t in support of my relationship with ray she always said that he’s married and that i should let him be.

    Lilian and i have been friends since our secondary school days, we got a house and lived together; she’s quite annoying sometimes but she’s a good friend to me. Luckily lilian came into my room when i was still in deep thoughts i told her about the sudden distance between i and ray, she stared at me with such disapointment then warned me to let him be that he may have choosen to be with his wife at last. i didn’t like that statement so i bla*sted it out

    that didn’t go well with her she looked at me with anger written all over her face then left to her room;

    “I have a caring man and am fine with him i need no other man ” i felt fulfilled after saying that i smiled and laid back on the bed.

    The following day while i was lying down on my bed fondling my phone a call popped up behold it was ray, i quickly picked up the call ever ready to bl*ast him for abandoning me for two week but to my greatest surprise it was a female voice, i removed the phone from my ear to checked if it’s actually ray’s name written on the screen indeed it was his name.

    “Could it be his wife or one of his concubine” i whispered to myself then brought the phone closer to my ear
    “hello” she voiced out

    Their only means of survival was to gather firewood from the bush and sell. She was happy staying and helping the Grandma. She wasn’t worried about school because no one could afford to sponsor her education. She was comfortable with her life in the village. She woke up with fear one morning screaming and shouting, the Grandma managed to calm her and ask her the problem, she narrated that someone appeared in her dream trying to talk to her but she didn’t want to listen and that was why she kept screaming. The same dream happened several times and she kept screaming.

    One morning, she went into the bush to look for firewood, she met some other children in the bush that were talking about cultural competition and she decided to join the conversation but they ignored her, called her names, made jest of her and told her she can’t participate because of her family atrocities.
    That made her feel so bad and moody, she got home and asked the mother what happened in her family and why the villagers keep talking about her family atrocities. The Grandma kept silent for a long time and tears started dropping from her eyes.

    Bisola kept wondering why the Grandma was crying but the Grandma couldn’t say anything. Later that night, they went to sleep and bisola ran out of the house crying and screaming that the Grandma woke up walked up to her. The Grandma asked her what Happened and she narrated the same dream she has been having about a man appearing to her and trying to talk to her. After Narrating the dream, She also asked the grandma why she doesn’t have siblings and relatives that has come to visit them.

    The Grandma after hearing the story of the dream again and the question about not having siblings or relatives that comes to visit them, she cried and told Bisola to sit down for her to explain why she has been having that dream and who the strange man is…….as soon as they both sat down, the tears started dropping from the Grandma’s eyes and she started narrating the story of her family to her.

    So, I went to one neighborhood and found an old woman who stayed alone in her house, people don’t want to rent a room in her compound because of how dirty the place was.

    Not like the others, I meet her and asked her for a room, I want to rent a room there in the compound.

    The old woman was surprised, because no one want to stay in the compound with her and she can’t move away from her own home.

    She showed me around and was trying to clean the place, but I told her that it was okay, I can do it on my own.

    I didn’t just clean my room, I took 2 day’s to clean the whole compound and clearing out the grasses.

    The compound became clean and beautiful and that made the old woman happy, all she has for me was a cup a water…

    ” My dear, you have work enough already, have some water she said.
    ” Thank you Grandma,” I voice out.

    I got the cup of water from her and drank, she was happy to see me drinking her water.

    After 3 days of staying in that compound I realized something, ” the old woman was also a human being and every human being need another in order to be happy.

    Happiness itself required people, because you can’t just be happy without other people being involved.

    Since I knew that she was lonely, I decided to start communicating with her and spend some time together with her, and of course that worked out perfectly.

    She opened up to me and told me about herself, you won’t believe it, ” she was a mother of FIVE (5) living adults. ( Her children are alive)

    But because they all left her each one struggling with his/her desire they left their old woman ( mother) behind with no one to take care of her.

    I said to myself, one day if they happen to die, are they not going to send their bodies back home? Who will bury them?
    Their old woman (mother). This is an evil thing.

    After telling me her story, I said to her Surprisedly, ” can I be your son then?
    ” She was surprised and asked me, ” why do you want to be my son when my own children left me?

    ” Because I need a mother, I said while smiling.
    She couldn’t resist my smiles.
    ” You are such a blessing,” she said smiling.

    From that day on our relationship became like that of a mother and son, the compound got a lot of tenant and they believed I was her her real son.

    Everyone could see her happiness, people could see how excited she was, because she was no longer lonely.

    During my free times, I normally walked around the neighborhood snapping pictures of births and other things that got me interested.

    One afternoon as I was about snapping a picture, I saw a young girl of about 18years sitting under a tree alone by herself.

    I saw her through my camera and the wind was blowing her hairs to give me just a perfect view.

    I dropped my camera and looked at her, but the view was a bit far from where I was standing.

    Well, I have a rule in my life, being kind and doing good to others was one of my rules.
    Making peace and smiling even in Trouble was also my rules.

    Because I believe that no matter how much wicked people can be, they can never so past love in it True nature.

    Love overcomes everything and that is the truth to our lives.

    Everyone looks down on me, I’m smart, intelligent and also good looking, but just because I don’t have that certificate they turned me into something else.

    It took me about a year before I got the job and I don’t want to lose hope simply because people don’t like me, because people are treating me in differently from the others.

    I just live my life, I do everything they want me to do. I have to save some money and take care of other things, I want to get some money to start a business.

    It was the first time his wife got to travel abroad, even though she was not from that poorly background, they still don’t have enough money to travel abroad and moreover, there was no reason for that.

    On reaching Dubai the couple went straight to a hotel room where the husband have arranged everything for them, it was already late in the evening and they have to rest before any other thing.
    The wife is full of excitement and couldn’t even stop smiling for even just a second, she keep on asking the husband one question on another. The husband have been to Dubai before, so he knew just a lot to tell her ..

    After that night the next day the husband took his wife out for sideview, they spend all the day snapping pictures and moving around the town with just a great excitement on his wife.

    While they were enjoying themselves and moving around, they meet with a woman who was also a Nigerian. They exchange greetings and the woman asked if she could show the wife some places in the town.

    The husband couldn’t stop them seeing his wife is already into the woman, he gave them some chance to have their fun while he meet some of his friends he knew there in Dubai…

    The woman took the wife into a shopping centre and showed her some interesting things and women dresses, she then asked the wife if she is interesting in business that will give her just pretty much.

    The wife was so excited to hear that, she told the woman she is really interesting in business, especially a big business that will take her from one country to another.

    The woman told her that she is a business woman and she move from Nigeria to Dubai and also others countries like, USA, London and Paris for business development.

    After adding some people I decide to start chatting one guy like that, ( I already know how to read and write so there is nothing big about the Facebook) I text the guy , “HI” he didn’t reply.

    I was actually feeling excited when I text him, he was the first person I wanted to chat, and more over I already know the person.
    But he didn’t reply my chat, I waited for almost 10 minutes no reply and the guy is still online.
    So I decided to just text other people I know and forget about this guy. similarly, all the people I knew nobody replied me on time, I have to wait for their reply as if I was waiting for a job interview.

    That is what happens for 3 days, after that I decided to just text anyone that is online and talk to them, we can be friends after all.

    I text more than 20 people and among them only 6 reply me at the moment I text, we couldn’t even chat long after greetings they will stop replying…
    Others will just be typing okay, okay and still okay without changing the okay.
    I was confused, I know I speak clear English and I believe there is nothing wrong with my words, ” why is it that they don’t reply my message?”

    I decided to make some research first before I will text anyone, I just focus on reading post and comments.

    In 1987, there was a 74-year old Rickshaw puller by the name of “Bai Fangli”, came back to his hometown planning to retire from his backbreaking job. There, he saw children working in the fields, because they were too poor to afford school fees.

    Bai returned to Tianjin and went back to work as a rickshaw puller, taking a modest accommodation next to the railway station. He waited for clients 24 hours a day, ate simple food and wore discarded second-hand clothes he found. He gave all of his hard-earned earnings to support children who could not afford education.

    In 2001, he drove his rickshaw to Tianjin YaoHua Middle School, to deliver his last installment of money. Nearly 90 years old, he told the students that he couldn’t work any more. All of the students and teachers were moved to tears.

    In total, Bai had donated a total of 350,000 yuan to help more than 300 poor students continue with their studies. In 2005, Bai passed away leaving behind an inspiring legacy.
