    I kept waiting under the drizzling rainpour.

    I returned to the reception to discover I was the only one left

    The driver? Gone

    I closed my eyes and began to pray

Whenever, there is a call or my phone rings, I would jump up from where I sat, I was expecting his call but he was not the one it was one of my friends that called.

    “Hello Rose, what is popping tomorrow, I hope all preparation has been put in place” Anita a close friend of mine called to check on me.

    “Nothing much, I am expecting his call but it is not coming” I said to Anita.

    “Ohh, dear, never mind, he will put a call through to you soon” She replied.

    Anita has been a close friend of mine since university days, we were like five and six, we behave like twins that some people felt we might end up marrying the same man but it was a lie. It was through Anita that I met Jude. She introduced me to him after he declared his interest in me. Although by that time I was in my early thirties.

    “I know mum but you see these guys are not committed” I would tell her.

    “But out of them, try and make one committed to you” My mum will tell me.

    And it was the truth, most of the guys I dated earlier, it is either they leave whenever I refuse to open my skirt up for them, but time was going age was not on my side. It was this issue of not having a stable boyfriend that made Anita connect me with Jude. I had barely known him for a long time, probably let me say a month. He had demanded for s3x from me. At first I rejected but after pressure and begging from Anita and himself, I yielded. Since then, I gave him my body voluntarily even without him asking for it. He was the only one that had stayed for a longer time now. We have dated for six months now and we are still together.

    Hmm. But there are some secrets that I didn’t know about Jude, although some were later revealed in his actions but I can’t lose him again, this time I was thirty one and will be celebrating my 32nd birthday the next day so I just have to hook up with him…

    After some minutes, Jude called again…”candy, that venue is at Eko hotel” He screamed it to my ears.

    “Wow, I shouted and kissed my phone to show I really appreciate. Little did I know about what was going to happen tomorrow. I called Anita and told her, she told me she was happy for me.

    Mind you, Jude is a son of one of the business mogul in Lagos and he own his business too which was moving very fast and he makes large sales from his company.
    That night I could not sleep, I was the first person to wake up at my lekki apartment, I rushed to take my bath and moved to the location for my birthday. The atmosphere was serene and calm, I could hear some background music and everything in order. I saw HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROSE written all over the place, I couldn’t imagine how much he must have spent on the decoration. I sat down watching those in the hall, my friends started arriving into the hall and there was sign of Joy…

    I waited patiently for Jude to come since his number was not going through…but he came later after some hours and explained that he was delayed in the traffic jam in Lagos. I could not quarrel with him, nor ague as I was just happy seeing him. After everyone was seated and we were chit chatting, I saw some guitarist enter and started playing singing this popular Tu face song “African queen”. My head began to swell like I was feeling myself. On that spot Jude held my hand and knelt down and said to me “ Rose, would you be my wife” That word was like, am I dreaming, I jumped with joy and answered him.

    “Yesssssssssss, I will be your wife” I said with Joy and every present clapped and some even made video. That day, I was so happy that I was feeling on top of the world but little did I know.

    After about one hour after he proposed, Jude took excuse that he wanted to see someone and he left but forgot to take his second phone. Barely five minutes, his phone beeped a message and what I saw scared the hell out of me.

You don’t know that each time I gamble, I’m only helping you out, who knows i might win and we will become rich, why are you always against whatever I do in this house, is not that you have other plans to get us out of poverty” Jovita responded sharply and hissed.

    Henry was speechless and at the same time, he was boiling in anger.
    ” I would do whatever it takes for good money to come into our lives, people win alot of money in gambling and betting, you can’t stop me from gambling, except you go get a better job” Jovita entered.
    “Oh really, I think it’s time you go get a Job too and let’s share the responsibilities, I can’t be working hard and you will be wasting my hard earned money on foolish things, I guess it’s time, you join the work force and stop being a pain in the ass” Henry replied angrily, he picked up a pillow from their matrimonial bed and stormed out from their bedroom and he headed straight to the living room, where he passed his night.

    The next day, Jovita got Henry’s sister involved in their matter and to Henry’s displeasure, His sister Blessing, took Jovita’s side. “How could you ask your wife to go get a job, when you can set up a business for her, I don’t want to meddle or interfere in your marriage but the right thing to do is to set up a business for your wife” Blessing had told her brother Henry bluntly.

    Henry listened, he some how got a loan from the company, where he worked and he set up a business for his wife, to Jovita’s merit, it was a fantastic business which allows her to overcharge her customers enormously.
    Henry had told her constantly to reduce the price for her services and goods, so she could gain more customers but Jovita never listened.

    With time, the new business wasn’t progressing, It was almost at the edge of collapsing, when Henry intervened, he was on his annual leave, he handled the business by him self for a month and the new business began to progress.

    One-day, Henry was at Jovita’s business location, where a female customer walked in, she was a very beautiful lady, probably in her late thirties.
    The Beautiful female Customer stared at Henry helplessly the whole time, she admired Henry’s good looks.
    Henry had attended to her and she was about to pay for the goods she bought, when she broke the silence.

    then I approach their gate and knocked the gate, luckily Dora came out,and asked what I was looking for.

    Hey, am Jackson but am well known as jack you’re our new neighbour nice having you as a neighbour , but you see, we’re just out of water in our home and I’ll really appreciate if you can help me with one bucket or two it will take us along way (she looked at me in on a pity face)

    ( during the moment of fetching, we discussed and laugh then got acquainted with each other.. We even forgot that the security can come here anytime soon and luck was on our side, the security didn’t come.. That was when I got her Facebook username and her number)

    I think I was the lucky guy at the moment, reaching the house I quickly use my mum’s phone and login then added her.. Since I didn’t have a browsing phone..

    In the land of Owaza! There lived a very beautiful girl named Nina. Nina lived with her parents in a very small village, her mother was once the most beautiful woman in the village who was the delight of many.

    As all the eligible bachelors in the village wanted her to be their married to them, Nina’s father was considered the luckiest man in the village to have married Nina’s mother.

    As not even the prince of the village was able to win her heart, Nina grow up to be more beautiful than her mother and was admired by all the maidens in the village.

    One day, Nina was returning home from the stream when she saw a giant snake starring directly at her. She was terrified as she had never seen a snake that big in her life.

    The snake gently approached her, Nina screamed at the top of her voice, shutting her eyes in fear. By the time she opened her eyes the snake has gone and Nina took to her heels as she ran back home in fear.

    Nina got home and told her mother what happened, her mother comforted her as she was glad that nothing had happened to her daughter.

    As days turned into weeks, strange occurrences began to take place. Nina would often find herself in dangerous situations only to he miraculously saved by the snake.

    One day Nina was going on an errand, she was about to step on a venomous scorpion. When the snake appeared out of nowhere hissing loudly to alert her.

    Nina caught sight of the dangerous scorpion and the snake hissing in front of her. She was so frightened and returned home.

    The taught of the snake couldn’t leave her mind, Nina wondered what the snake wanted with her. As night came, Nina retired to be and had a very terrifying dream.

    Simi was the only child of her parent, it could be said that life was fair to her as she was blessed with parents who had a happy home, were financially buoyant, and did everything within their ability to ensure she got the best of life. She was the apple of her father’s eye hence, nothing must go wrong with her. The family was a happy one but there was a problem.

    Mrs. Adeshina, Simi’s mom wanted more children which were not forthcoming. She tried every possible means to conceive after having Simi but her efforts proved abortive. She tried IVF but got no results, her husband was contented with having Simi, he was grateful to God that they were not barren. But then, Mrs. Adeshina would have none of this, she was bent on having more children despite her husband’s satisfaction with having one child.

    Mrs. Adeshina engaged in all manner of spiritual exercises including fasting, praying, going to mountains, sowing seeds, and many more. She just wanted God to look down on her and give her more children.

    Three months after Simi’s fourteenth birthday, God heard Mrs. Adeshina’s prayers as she was confirmed two months pregnant after being sick for a week. You can imagine the joy in the family, Mr. Adeshina was overjoyed. The right preparations for the new baby were being put in place as the family looked forward to having him or her in the family after nine months.

    Days turned into weeks and weeks into months, and Mrs. Adeshina went into labor after months of being pregnant. The labor started in the evening, luckily, her husband was around so, he rushed her to their family hospital where she was taken to the labor room. Everything started well and fine but all of a sudden, things changed. Even though Mrs. Adeshina pushed so hard, she couldn’t give birth naturally. The doctor, who saw that things were getting out of hand advised that she undergo a cesarean section to save the life of both mother and child.

    Mr. Adeshina agreed immediately urging the doctor to do everything possible to save his wife. The doctor tried his best but he was only able to save the baby as Mrs. Adeshina passed on after the baby was brought out of her. Mr. Adeshina went into shock when the news got to him, it was like a dream, and he pinched himself severally to be sure he wasn’t dreaming.

    Simi burst into bitter tears when she heard that her mother had passed away, she refused to be consoled by neighbors and friends, all she just wanted was her mother.

    It was a devastating moment for both father and daughter as it looked like the light of the family was gone. Mr. Adeshina had to call his elder sister to come over and take care of the baby as he couldn’t even look the baby in the face. Simi didn’t even want to have any contact with the baby as she felt the baby killed her mother.

    Aunty Lucy tried her best to make both father and daughter accept the baby but her effort proved abortive. As if he knew his family never wanted him, the baby died a week after he was born which further broke Mr. Adeshina’s heart, he felt guilty about the baby’s death, and he wished he had consoled himself with the birth of the baby but then, his wishes could not restore the baby to life.

    The baby was buried alongside his mother while the father and daughter tried to put the past behind them but found it very hard. Mr. Adeshina soon found himself wallowing in depression and after a year, kicked the bucket.

    Simi almost ran mad when she went into her father’s room that particular morning to wake him up only to meet him dead. At first, she thought he was deeply asleep but in the long run, discovered there was no longer life in her father. Her scream was what attracted the neighbours who confirmed that he was truly dead.

    Simi’s aunt came almost immediately she got wind of the death of her younger brother. Getting to his residence, she was heartbroken, she began to question why He allowed evil to come near the family that loved Him dearly. If there was one thing that stood out in Mr. Adeshina’s life, it was his love and devotion to God and His work. Mr. Adeshina could give his last kobo for the things of God.
