I was very àngry with Andy for the insinuations he had made. I knew he was already having trust issues because of what he has been through, but I never expected that he’d so brazenly accuse me of cheàting on him when I was doing everything I could, to ensure that we had a hitch free marriage.
It was not an easy pill to swallow, but I had to forget that he had been quite annoying with his outburst and asked him in a calm tone why he felt that I was cheàting on him.
“Quit trying to sound intelligent with me. You could have used your intelligence for far better things than trying to outsmart someone smarter than you.
“I watched Jane and Madonna play me for a fōōl because I didn’t quite pay them attention, so don’t you ever imagine that because those êvïl souls were able to deal such dìrty blows on me, that you too can come make a mess of my feelings.
”I heard you talking with your lover in your room a while ago, and just because you never expected that I’d come to your room, you even had the audacity to turn your phone speaker on!” he told me.
I felt like giving him a sound slap then walk out of his house and life for good, but I knew I’d be deceiving myself if I told myself I’d be able to get over him so easily.
After my ex gave me that fatal blow back then, i was devastated and all, but i was able to pull through because ut was the first time my heart was experiencing that kind of hurt, and I knew that I was going to guard my heart to forestall such occurrence again.
But if it came down to breaking up with Andy again, it would mean so much because I know I’ll never be able to dare to love again, so common sense told me to work on getting the man I love, the help I know he needed
“It’s okay Andy, it’s a good thing my phone is here, and my call history can still show you the phone numbers recently contacted and the time line.
“I’m going to call this number because he’s likely going to be the one I’m cheàting with” I told him, dialing Yinka’s number.
He picked almost immediately and was shocked that I called again.
“Hello my favourite, it’ll be almost midnight in Chicago, why are you still awake?” he asked me as soon as he picked up the call, and Andy was already smiling mockingly.
“Yes dear, I would have long gone to bed if you hadn’t given me the news you gave me earlier. The excitement is making it hard for me to sleep” I told him, making him chuckle.
“Well, I guess he too will be very pleased to know that everything can be settled without much ado.
“Have you called him yet?” He asked me, clearing his throat. I knew why Yinka asked if I called him, because he’d never have imagined that I was living in these a house as Andy, when we weren’t married.
I didn’t want to tell him I was in Andy’s house too, because I didn’t have the strength and time to explain to him that so far, I have been able to maintain the line I wished created between us, until we got married officially.
Yinka and everyone else in my age range in our family already knew how much I love Andy because we often talked about our individual relationships and affairs, so, telling him that I took the risk of cohabiting with him when my feelings for him was considered too strong, would mean making him assume that I’ve been sleeping with him.
The long sermon of convincing an astute observant like Yinka wasn’t what I needed in my state of mind then, so I made him talk about something else.
“Erm not really, I just wanted to be double sure of what you told me before I tell him everything.
”So would you please tell me everything about how he can proceed with the process?” I asked.
“Okay, you are able to get a divorce in the Dominican Republic, even if you are unaware of the location or address of your Spouse or they are domiciled abroad
“This procedure is very simple and only requires the attendance of one of the spouses during the hearing which takes usually less than half an hour and you can leave Dominican Republic the same day in the afternoon.
“So, since your fiancée is already separated with his ex, and is sure he won’t be wanting to get back to her, then he can fly to Dominican Republic tomorrow, and he’d be returning free from all encumbrances his marriage to her placed on him” Yinka told me in clear terms
I asked him a few more questions and got him laughing at me for being more anxious to have Andy’s marriage dissolved than the man himself.
“You won’t understand Yinka, that divorce is one of the things standing in the way of my happiness. I am hoping that things go smoothly and I’ll be able to get the desired results soon.
“Thank you for this amazing information” I told him before I hung up, to find Andy kneeling besides me, in tears.
“I’m so sorry Sola, I have been a fōōl, and I know I shouldn’t have said all that I said when you haven’t given me a reason to suspect you
“I should have given you the benefit of doubt and asked you who you were talking to, since neither was troubled about th call, but I jumped into conclusion and nearly broke all my bones and body parts” he told me, looking so sad and downcast
I told him everything that happened after I went into my room, and how I had spoken with Yinka and others before he promised to call me right back.
“You know Andy, some people go through some challenges and would require some sort of therapy to be able to get back to living again
“But a good number of people don’t wait for therapy before they begin to consciously work on themselves.
“And actually, I believe personal reevaluation and the strong desire to overcome these challenges is the best and first step to a holistic recovery.
“You will need to consciously fight the urge to feel insecure around me because even though I have been trying to ensure that I help you overcome your insecurities, I need you to partner with me.
“I have tried the much I can to ensure that I don’t keep secrets from you, because when I made my research on how to help you overcome the trust issues you’re bound to have after your experience with Madonna and her mother, I found out I needed to do a lot to help you.
“But there’s not much I can do if you’re not ready to work with me. You can’t decide to close your eyes because you saw bad people and expect the good people to pry your eyes open when they’re passing by.
“Please Andy, understand that I love you too much to imagine cheàting on you, and no man on earth will ever move me the way you do.
“And if I found any reason not to love you wholly, I wouldn’t be trying to find a way to ensure we’re legally married without troubles” I told him.
Andy kept begging me the whole of that night, even after I told him I had forgiven him.
We made up our differences and began to plan how to find our way to Dominican Republic to get the divorce papers that we would needed to proceed to the next stage of our relationship.
